WUNSCH was born in Luxembourg-city on 29 May 1802. His father was a cordier. On 29 April 1833 he married Suzanne GINDORFF, also born in Luxembourg-city in 1808, daughter of a boulanger.
WUNSCH became an orfèvre and settled in Diekirch.
In the early 1850s he developed a galvano-electric chain which he patented and offered for sale.
Jean Baptiste WUNSCH’s eldest son Albert took over the goldsmith business in Diekirch around 1867 and later Albert passed it on to his two sons François Joseph and Henri Constant who are known for having designed ecclesiastic goods for the Diekirch and Troisvierges parishes.
Jean Baptiste WUNSCH was married twice. He became a widower in 1838 and, a year later, he married Anne Barbe ARGES. The couple had no children. WUNSCH died on 16 September 1878 in Diekirch at the age of 76.
