Louis Charles THIRY was born in 1884 in Forbach (France) as Ludwig THIRY. Around 1900 he moved with his parents to Rumelange where the family ran a café.
When Ludwig THIRY married Marie Joséphine SCHNADT in Rumelange in 1911 he adopted the first names of “Louis Charles”.
Joséphine SCHNADT was the daughter of Wilhelm SCHNADT-RISCH.
In 1913, when he applied for patents, he used the name of Karl THIRY.
His occupation was Schlosser and, as such, he contributed to the development of the Taschenmesser “Glückauf”.
He died in 1930 in Esch-sur-Alzette at the age of 45.
