STEFFEN Constant

(1849 - 1896)
Luxembourg-Limpertsberg

Johann Heinrich Constant STEFFEN was born in Limpertsberg (Eich) in 1849. His father was a Schuhllehrer.
He became a civil engineer in the early 1870s and in 1882 he married Clementine Catherine ANDRÉ in Paris. STEFFEN probably worked and resided in Paris in the years up to his marriage.
In 1883 the couple STEFFEN-ANDRÉ presumably settled in Arlon, the city in which Clementine ANDRÉ was born.
Their first child was born in Arlon in 1883. Their second child, however, was born in Luxembourg-city in 1884, where STEFFEN had set up an office as consultant engineer.

In the years 1884 to 1893 STEFFEN published a number of technical articles and acted as patent agent, helping national and foreign inventors to obtain patent protection.
The Luxembourg Census of December 1885 shows that STEFFEN and his family resided in 13 Boulevard Royal.
Constant STEFFEN died in Luxembourg-city (Marktplatz-Ring) in 1896 at the age of 47.
