Theodor Franz Alexander Gustav SAUER was born in Trier. His father Johann Peter SAUER was of German origin while his mother Catherine SCHMIT was of Luxembourgish origin.
He left Trier for Luxembourg-city in 1863.
In 1872 he obtained Luxembourg citizenship.
He was co-founder in 1876 of the “Wollspinnerei mit Tricotfabrik Sauer & Muller” in Walferdange.
In 1878 he married Sophie FISCHER, daughter of Eugène FISCHER-GÉRARD, Staatstierarzt, Präsident der Ackerbauverwaltung.
Around 1880 SAUER developed and patented a “sytème de moulin”, for use in his Walferdange industrial site.
SAUER died in 1886 at the age of 43 in Luxembourg-city (Münzgasse).
