RENDEL Adolf

Adolf RENDEL was of German origin.
Before he came to Luxembourg around 1927 he was operating a “Knopf- und Metallwarenfabrik” in Barmen/Wuppertal. He took up residence in Luxembourg to set up a similar factory.
To this effect he founded in June 1927 with local partners the company “MARCEL (Manufacture d’articles en métal et celluloïd)”. The new company absorbed the Mamer-based company “La Métallique”, Usine d’estampage et d’emboutissage, and kept its seat registration in Mamer.
RENDEL’s place of residence was “Mamer/Schloss”.
By November of 1927, however, the company was already dissolved.
RENDEL pursued his project by setting up his own company in 1928 in Luxembourg-city (14a rue de Strasbourg) under the name of Rendel & Cie. His partner was Cerf ISRAËL.

In November of 1931 the company was converted to a société anonyme, took on the name of RECO s.a. and moved to 75 Hollericherstrasse. The company presumably closed the Knopffabrik and turned to manufacturing polish, including containers for polish

RECO s.a. at the same time announced the creation of a subsidiary in Mersch.
In 1933 the company RECO was restructured, changed its name to: Usines Luxembourgeoises pour le Travail du Métal, en abréviation “Ultrametal”, and transferred its seat to Mersch.
The manufacturing site of Luxembourg-city was also transferred to Mersch, as previously announced.
Adolf RENDEL was no longer a shareholder of the new company and probably left Luxembourg for his home city Barmen/Wuppertal around 1933.

In May of 1935 the company “Ultrametal” was dissolved and declared bankrupt in March 1936 .Its assets were sold in a public auction.
In December 1937 RENDEL filed a German patent application giving evidence that he was then again resident in Barmen/Wuppertal.
He obtained his last patent in 1951, still living in Barmen/Wuppertal.
It has not been possible to obtain genealogical data on Adolf RENDEL.
