MERSCH Frédéric

Frédéric MERSCH was born in Baschleiden (Boulaide) on 2 October 1848. His father was a Strohdecker (roof thatcher) and his mother a Taglöhner (day labourer).
Frédéric was married to Susanna CALMES, daughter of a Wann(en)macher (tub maker) in Ettelbruck. MERSCH settled in Ettelbruck and became a Sattlermeister (master saddler).
His wife Susanna died in 1897 without having had children and MERSCH remarried in 1898 with another CALMES, her first name also being Susanne terminating in “e” instead of “a”.
Susanne was the daughter of another Ettelbruck Wann(en)macher by the name of CALMES. She was a niece of Susanna, MERSCH’s first wife.
The second couple MERSCH-CALMES had 3 children.
MERSCH died on 17 April 1938 in Ettelbruck at the age of 89.
