Joseph KÖMPGEN was born in Lintgen in 1826, his father was a marchand de chevaux. Joseph became mécanicien.
He was married to Anne GRILGET (?), born in Lyon in 1817. The couple probably had no children.
In 1872 KÖMPGEN operated an atelier in Heisdorf (Steinsel) and by 1885 he had moved it to Luxembourg-city.
It is not known when and where he died.
