KAUFHOLD Adolphe
KAUFHOLD was born in Saarbrücken in 1848 and came to Luxembourg to work in the mining industry.
In 1875 he married Josephine WELTER in Esch-sur-Alzette; his occupation was Steiger. The couple soon after moved to Bonnevoie (Hollerich) where their first two children were born.
Around 1880 KAUFHOLD became Handelsreisender and in 1883 he took on the position of Wollweber in a factory in Pulvermühle.
In the same year KAUFHOLD obtained a Luxembourg patent for a new composition of bricks, floor tiles and roof tiles; he set up a factory in Rumelange around 1885. His occupation became Ziegelfrabricant.
It would appear that his new venture was short-lived, since by 1891 he was residing in Merl (Hollerich) as Techniker and in 1893 in Luxembourg-Gare as Mechaniker.
In 1895 his eldest son Adolph-Gustave-Henri set up a factory for matière calorifuge in Esch-sur-Alzette which he later transferred to Bonnevoie (“G.H.A. KAUFHOLD Wärmeschutzmassen-Fabrikant”).
Adolphe KAUFHOLD left Luxembourg-city for Schaerbeek (Belgium) where his occupation in 1908 is reported as fabricant. He set up there the company “Kaufhold A. & Cie” in the field of calorifuges (Wärmeschutzmassen).
It is not known when and where he died.
