HOFFMANN Nicolas
Nicolas HOFFMANN was born in 1863 in Soleuvre, son of an Ackerer.
In 1882 Nicolas HOFFMANN married Julienne LACROIX, born in Gent (BE), daughter of the Direktor der Minen in Esch-sur-Alzette, and residing in Schifflange. Nicolas was Angestellter bei den _____gruben at the time, also residing in Schifflange.
The couple HOFFMANN-LACROIX had 6 children born in 6 different places which makes it possible to retrace their successive residences and HOFFMANN’s occupations:

The family settled around the mid-1890s in Luxembourg-city where HOFFMANN set up his own company as Elektriker. The HOFFMANNs resided in Luxembourg-Limpertsberg (II. Transversal Strasse).
Nicolas also became partner in a company producing acétylène in rue Beaumont. At that time he invented and patented an apparatus for producing acétylène.
In August 1900, however, Nicolas HOFFMANN-LACROIX (Elektriker) was declared bankrupt.
His name is mentioned again in 1919 in connection with “La question du Luxembourg”. Nicolas HOFFMANN-LACROIX was listed as a leading member of the “Comité franco-luxembourgeois” in Paris.
In 1929 Nicolas HOFFMANN was reported as having established a company in Esch-sur-Alzette as électricien.
His wife Julienne LACROIX died in Luxembourg-city in 1934.
It is not known when and where Nicolas HOFFMANN died.
