DENIS Michel Alexandre

DENIS Michel Alexandre was born in 1852 in Luxembourg-city (239 Genister-Gasse). His father was a Tischler. Like his father, Denis became a Schreiner/Tischler.
In 1875 he married Anna PEPPINGER, the daughter of a Tabakspinner. The couple took up residence in the centre of Luxembourg-city (16 rue Louvigny).
Around 1880 DENIS became maître menusier attaché à l’administration des prisons and forthwith resided in the premises of the prison (Münsterstrasse).
Around 1890 the DENIS-PEPPINGER family moved to a new address: 2 Thionviller Strasse.
As of 1894 DENIS carried the title of contre-maître aux prisons.
In 1920 he was awarded the médaille en argent de l’ordre de la Couronne de chêne.
He died in 1926 in Luxembourg-city; his death announcement refered to him as gardien-contremaître des prisons en retraite.
