DEMUTH Valentin

Valentin DEMUTH was born in Esch-sur-Sûre in 1838. His father’s occupation was marchand-colporteur.
In 1872 Valentin married Marie-Catherine REISER in Esch-sur Sûre. The couple had ten children.
Valentin DEMUTH was a Hufschmied and later became a Handelsmann.
Around 1890 he founded the first bottle cork factory of Luxembourg in Esch-sur-Sûre.
By 1895 he called himself Korkfabrikant. Three of his children worked in the family enterprise.
DEMUTH died in 1900 in Esch-sur-Sûre. The cork factory was taken over by his widow Marie-Catherine REISER.
