DE LA FONTAINE Adrien
Francis Edmond Adrien DE LA FONTAINE was born in Stadbredimus in 1873. He was the son of Edmond DE LA FONTAINE (alias DICKS). At the time DICKS was an industrialist operating a weaving factory in Remich.
The factory ran into financial difficulties and DICKS put the premises in Remich up for sale by auction in 1872.
In 1881 DICKS was named juge de paix in Vianden and Adrien thus grow up in Vianden. He received his secondary education in the Diekirch Progymnasium.
In 1891, when Edmond died, the family moved to Clausen (Mansfeld Park). Adrien joined Metz & Co in Luxembourg-Eich.
In the Clausen Census of 1895 his occupation is reported as Hüttenbeamter.
The family moved on to Limpertsberg (Johannsstrasse) and according to the Limpertsberg Census of 1900 Adrien’s occupation was still Hüttenbeamter.
Around 1908 Adrien went into the insurance sector, acting as agent for foreign companies, and in 1924 he opened a patent agency (22 avenue Monterey) in association with a Belgian patent agent.
In 1925 he formed a company with Charles HASTERT in the insurance sector:
Il est formé par les présentes entre les soussignés une société commerciale en nom collectif, ayant pour objet de faire pour elle ou pour compte de tiers toutes opérations d’assurances, de co-assurances, de réassurances généralement quelconques tant dans le Grand-Duché qu’à l’Etranger.
He later concentrated on his activities as patent agent.
He died in 1945 as agent des brevets d’invention as mentioned by his family in the avis mortuaire.
It would appear that he was not married.
