Michel BREISCH was born in Ettelbruck in 1861 where his father was a Klassenlehrer. He trained in Paris to become a Bijoutier-Meister.
Around 1885 he returned to his home town Ettelbruck and soon after set up his own atelier in Maison Blanc, 16 (13?) place d’Armes in Luxembourg-city
In June 1887 BREISCH moved his atelier to 7 rue Saint Philippe.
In October of the same year he married Catherine HERBER, born in Bettembourg in 1852, but living in Luxembourg-city. She was a widow, previously married to Auguste DITSCH who had died in 1879 and with whom she had a son, Bernard DITSCH, born in Luxembourg-city in 1873.
The BREISCH-HERBER couple had a still-born child in 1888 in Luxembourg-city.
They emigrated with son Bernard DITSCH to the USA in 1890, and had another child, born 1894 in New York City. The child only lived for a week.
In 1895 Michel BREISCH was listed in a New York City directory as jeweller, residing in 242 East 41st Street.
Bernard DITSCH created a family in 1898 and became a policeman in New York, and in 1905 Michel BREISCH and Catharina HERBER resided in Bernard’s household in Manhattan.
Michel BREISCH died in New York in 1907, and his wife Catharina HERBER died there in 1915.
