BOCK Madelaine
Madelaine BOCK was the daughter of Charles BOCK, tanneur in Vianden.
In 1852 she married Pierre Joseph VANDERAIKEN (1822-1866), Unternehmer in Diekirch. The latter was born in Hollogne/Marche-en-Famenne (BE).
VANDERAIKEN died in 1866 in Diekirch. Besides being an industriel he also was Schöffe der Stadt Diekirch. Madelaine BOCK continued to run her husband’s enterprise after his death.
In 1867 Antoine HARTMANN (1817-1891), an engineer born in Waldbredimus, became ingénieur des travaux publics in Diekirch. He was responsible for the public works in and around Diekirch.
In the 1880s he had invented cast iron toilet elements for public or industrial use. BOCK acquired the rights from HARTMANN in 1885 to apply for a corresponding patent in Luxembourg (patent LU509).
Madelaine BOCK died in Diekirch in 1911.
