BLUM Louis
Louis BLUM was born in Ettelbruck in 1858.
His biography, as well as his professional career, are well documented.
Louis BLUM was the son of Peter BLUM, Tabaksfabrikant. When the latter died in 1870 Louis was only 12 years old and was studying at the Ackerbauschule (agricultural college) in Ettelbruck. At the age of 14 he joined the steelworks in Esch-sur-Alzette as office clerk.
In 1882 he transferred to the chemical laboratory and, over the years, became a highly respected Chemiker.
He published a large number of scientific articles in technical publications such as “Stahl & Eisen”, “Chemiker-Zeitung”, “Zeitschrift für analytische Chemie”.
BLUM had three sons. The middle son René BLUM (1889-1967) was an avocat and high-ranking politician.
Louis BLUM died in Esch-sur-Alzette in 1920.
