BECKER Johann

Johann BECKER was born in Rittenhofen (Saarbrücken) in 1819. He qualified as engineer and worked in the mines of Esch-sur-Alzette, but resided in Germany and France before settling in Luxembourg.
On 24 December 1879 he obtained the right to take up residence in Luxembourg (Clausen). He was referred to as “ancien ingénieur des mines”.

In January 1880 he took on the representation of a German life insurance company for Luxembourg (“Preussische-Lebensversicherungs-Actien-Gesellschaft”) and in February 1881 he aobtained a Luxembourg patent.
He died on 3 December 1882 in Luxembourg-city (8 St Philipps-Gasse). His occupation in the Civil Register was recorded as “Obersteiger” (ingénieur des mines en chef).
