GINDORFF Joseph

Joseph Franz GINDORFF was born in 1891 in Esch-sur-Alzette. His father was an Uhrmacher. Joseph became an électricien.
In 1917 he founded a company with Henri CHILOT under the name of “Société Chilot, Gindorff et Cie, Fabrique de chaussures et semelles brevetées.”
The company’s object was:

Fabrication et vente d’une chaussure nouvelle (souliers, galoches) et de diverses semelles.

CHILOT held three Luxembourg patents relating to shoes (galloches en tôle, semelles). GINDORFF’s contribution to the company was:

… diverses inventions telles que: chaussure faite de membrane animale; les différentes applications de ce dernier produit; semelle flexible, protecteur pour semelles.

In 1918 GINDORFF founded another company under the name of “Jos Gindorff & Cie”. The object of the company was:

… drei Erfindungspatente betreffend Holzschuhfabrikation, Sicherungsapparat gegen Einbruch und Massenartikel für Hotel, durch Betrieb einer Fabrik und durch Handel zu verwerten.

GINDORFF’s associates were Paul FIEDLER and Willy CAPUS.
GINDORFF was married twice, first to Julie RAYECK, and after their divorce in 1918, he married Victoire FAUSSÉ.
From 1917 to 1923 he resided in Esch-sur-Alzette, from 1924 to 1931 in Audun-le-Tiche, and from
1932 to 1948 he resided in Esch-sur-Alzette (24 rue Pasteur).
GINDORFF died in 1948 in Esch- sur-Alzette (“par suite d’accident à l’Aciérie de Micheville”). He was a monteur-électricien at the time.
