SCHILTZ Pierre
Pierre Alfred SCHILTZ was born in 1881 in Rumelange/Kayl; his father was an Unternehmer.
He used the suffix “fils” to distinguish himself from his father, whose first name was also Pierre.
Pierre (fils) set up an “atelier de construction (constructions en fer)” in Tétange, but he resided initially in Rumelange.
In 1915 he cooperated with the Buchholtz & Ettinger firm of Esch-sur-Alzette for developing their carbide lamp design and was co-inventor of one of their patents in 1916. He manufactured the lamps in Tétange.
In 1934 (Buchhlotz and Ettinger had died in 1921) he invented an improved design for a carbide lamp and obtained a corresponding patent in France and Luxembourg.
SCHILTZ acted as mayor of Kayl in the early 1930s.
He was married to Marie DOSTERT. He had no children and died in Tétange on 14 January 1952.
