DAUBENFELD Arthur
Pierre Arthur DAUBENFELD, born in Hollerich in 1883, was the son of an Eisenbahnbeamter. In 1900 he passed the Reifeprüfung at the Luxembourg Gymnasium.
Like his father, he became an Eisenbahnbeamter (assistant dans l’administration du chemin de fer Guillaume), and in 1903 he married Angelica ARENS (1876-1968), born and residing in Hosingen.
DAUBENFELD resided in Hollerich and went into local politics. He became conseiller communal (1906), échevin (1910) and finally bourgmestre (1911-1917) of Hollerich.
In 1911 DAUBENFELD’s occupation was Tarifkontrolleur.
In parallel to his political activities, DAUBENFELD studied at Strasbourg University where he obtained a doctorate in 1913 in Staatswissenschaften (Dr. rer. pol.).
In 1916 DAUBENFELD was one of the founder members of the Société anonyme pour la construction et l’exploitation d’un crématoire dans le Grand-Duché de Luxembourg.
He became head of the Statisches Amt in Luxembourg in 1913. DAUBENFELD appears to have left this job in 1918 (pensionné).
He joined ARBED’s commercial subsidiary “Columeta” around 1921 and in 1930 he was appointed honorary consul of Greece.
Arthur DAUBENFELD died in Luxembourg-city in 1950. His only child Erwin qualified as engineer and worked for “Columeta” in Brazil.
