DE ZIEGÉSAR Henri

(1807 - )

Baron Wilhelm Heinrich von ZIEGESAR was born in Neuwied (near Koblenz). Judging from the places where his children were born, he lived in Mainz (1830), in Oosterhout/Breda (1839), Mannheim (1840) before he moved to Berg.
Alphonse de DOMMARTIN sold the castle and the foundry in Berg to Guillaume III in 1845 and Guillaume III recruited ZIEGESAR in September 1846 to manage his new possessions in Berg, including the Berg Castle. ZIEGESAR gave his family name a French touch by calling himself ZIEGÉSAR.
As can be seen from the Census of 1846, he settled in the Berg Castle with his family of 4 children, and his mother-in-law.
Two sons were born in the Berg where he stayed until around 1867 when Carl HEINZEL took over the Castle.
ZIEGÉSAR was still residing in the Berg Castle on 3 December 1867 but no longer in 1871.
It is not known when and where DE ZIEGÉSAR died.
