EYDT Jean François

Jean François EYDT was born 1808 in Pulvermühle (Sandweiler). He was the son of Jean Georges EYDT (1780-1859), meunier, and Marguerite REUTER (b. 1781). At his birth he was named Jean Georges, after his father, but he later adopted the first name of Jean François.
He was one of the grandsons of the EYDT-WARCKEN couple, founders of the the EYDT family branch who possessed three mills along the Alzette in Luxembourg-city: Pulvermühle, Eydtmühle (Neumühle, obere Siechenhofmühle) and Siechenhofmühle (untere Siechenhofmühle).
Jean François qualified as architect and became architecte de la Ville de Luxembourg from 1834 to 1869.
He was a highly respected and influential public figure.

In 1855 EYDT introduced the so-called système de panification Rolland in Luxembourg. He established an industrial site for this baking system in the Siechenhofmühle.
EYDT died in 1885 in his villa in Marie Theresien Avenue.
