POOS Ferdinand
Ferdinand Jacques POOS was born in Diekirch on 19 January 1901. His father was a Mechaniker.
In 1925 POOS qualified as Elektro-Ingenieur of the Elektro-Ingenieurschule am Deutschen Technikum in Berlin. His name is mentioned in the Mémorial of 1931 as employee of the Société Luxembourgeoise AEG pour Entreprises Electriques.
In 1935 POOS founded his own company ELECTRO-VOX in Luxembourg-city (20 rue du Fort Neyperg) offering radio-sets under the name of FNR (Fabrique Nationale Radio), manufactured in Brussels. At the same time he started building electrotherapeutic devices. He developed a portable electrotherapeutic apparatus to which he gave the name of “MEDICO”.
In 1950 he moved his company to 17, boulevard Dr Charles Marx. He no longer used the trade name of ELECTRO-VOX and renamed his company and its products “MEDICO”.
POOS died in 1987 at the age of 86.
