TERLINDEN Richard Wilhelm

(1892 - )
Oberhausen (DE)

Richard Wilhelm (alias “Willy”) TERLINDEN was born in Oberhausen in 1892 and probably came to Luxembourg with his parents around 1909.
In 1912, he joined the management of his mother’s company Mechanische Holzkunstbildnerei, Kommanditgesellschaft, Frau J. G. Terlinden & Cie Eich-Weimerskirch:

Die Geschäftsführung der Gesellschaft wird durch Frau J. G. Terlinden besorgt, welche hierbei von ihrem Ehemann und ihrem Sohn unterstützt wird.

Willy married Maria GALLES of Weimerskirch in 1920.
When Willy’s father Gerhard died in 1922 the TERLINDENs closed their industrial site in Weimerskirch.
The couple TERLINDEN-GALLES emigrated to Finland where Willy joined the Finnish company Wilh. Schaumans Tarso Aktiebolag. Judging from the patents he obtained in 1922-1923 he joined the Finnish firm to apply his skills which he had acquired in Luxembourg for decorating wooden articles.
In 1925 he emigrated with his wife Maria to the USA to manage the US subsidiary of the Wilh. Schaumans Tarso called American Tarso Company.
Richard Wilhelm TERLINDEN’s name appeared next in 1932, as inventor of a patent in the name of the German company Druckerei & Kartonnagen, vorm. Gebr. Obpacher A.-G. It would appear the had further developed his techniques for decorating non-textile porous articles.
Richard Wilhem TERLINDEN became owner of the the Siechenhof premises in 1951.
His wife Maria GALLES died in Heidelberg in 1961. The death notice suggests that none of their four children were residing in Luxembourg at the time.
The TERLINDENs were still proprietors of the Siechenhof in 1968 which would suggest that Richard Wilhelm was still alive at the time and was actually living in Siechenhof.
It is not known when and where Richard Wilhelm TERLINDEN died.
