ARGENDORFF Joseph
Joseph ARGENDORFF was born in Keispelt in 1885.
His father Bernard was of German origin (born in Leutesdorf), and was married to Anne UHRES, born in Keispelt. The couple settled in Ansembourg (Keispelt) where Bernard’s occupation was Gärtner in the castle of Ansembourg.
Joseph ARGENDORFF became a Zollaufseher. He married Anna CLEMENT, born in 1894 in Luxembourg-city. They had their first child in 1915, born in Reckenthal-Strassen.
In 1919 ARGENDORFF, however, when he filed his patent application in Luxembourg, declared Schwebsange as his residence.
He advanced later to become préposé des douanes in Luxembourg-city.
In 1945, in the context of the post-war “épuration” process, Joseph ARGENDORFF was revoked from his position retroactively with effect on 10 September 1944, and in 1946 he was sentenced to 9 months in prison.
ARGENDORFF died in 1976 in Reckenthal.
