KÖNIG Jean
Jean KÖNIG was born on 22 February 1835 in Luxembourg-Eich (maison 10, Petit Marly, between Eich and Pfaffenthal). His father Bernard was a menuisier. His wife Louise HUBERTY was born in Niederanven, daughter of an Ackerer.
The couple married in May of 1861 in Niederanven and moved to Folschette (Rédange) in the same year. They are listed in the Folschette Census of December 1861 and KÖNIG’s occupation was at the time cabaretier.
The KÖNIG family was still resident in Folschette in 1876, but by 1877, when KÖNIG applied for a patent, the family comprising six children had moved to Dommeldange.
Over the years spent in Folschette, the official Registers (Birth Register and Census) indicate that KÖNIG ran a Café (Schankwirth), cultivated the fields (Ackerer) and was a mechanic (tourneur).
On 17 October 1877 KÖNIG (then ébéniste) applied for a patent in Luxembourg.
In 1883 KÖNIG sold his patented system to M. HOSTERT.
KÖNIG died in Luxembourg-city in 1892.
