BODEVING Joseph
Bodeving Joseph (web) 1Joseph BODEVING was the son of Philippe BODEVING, Schlosser and Elisabeth KREMER.
He was born in 1856 in Luxembourg-Grund (22 Breitenweg). He also became Schlossermeister. In 1880 he married Margaretha SCHMIT, born in Pulvermühle, daughter of a Gärtner.
In 1885 BODEVING announced that he had created a fabrique de coffre-forts. He resided with his family in 6 rue Notre Dame. In July of the same year he announced that he would open a subsidiary in Nancy.
In 1888 he opened a shop in 52 Grand’rue and in 1889 he added Kochherde and Öfen to his commercial offer, including the supply of coal.
Soon after, in 1891, he established a foundry next to his workshop.
He became Fournisseur de la Cour in 1897.
He died tragically in 1904 in the Unter-Petruss at the age of 47 (see Addendum).
His widow took over the management of the business, but in 1905 Jean Charles PRINTZ (1868-1911) acquired it and registered trademarks based on BODEVING’s name and reputation (see Addendum).
